Geek Fight! A New TCG Trading Card Game

Welcome to a nightmarish battle of man v. man, computer programmer v. professional gamer, and even a green monkey v. a coconut*. Welcome to the brainchild of Charon, Killer of Men, wielder of the Sword of 1000 Souls, inventor of Spammen Noodles (that's Spam mixed with ramen noodles--quite delicious). Welcome to an exciting innovation in the marketing of strategic card games. Welcome to Geek Fight!

Geek Fight takes place in a convention setting where you, the Geek Fight player, might run into a hairy anime character wearing thigh-high boots and an ill-fitting sports bra moments after being detained by a Stormtrooper demanding to see your credentials. You can also expect to encounter any and all of the stereotypical convention characters, vendors, swag, items, and crazy events that appear at conventions, or "cons." However, what makes Geek Fight unique is the way it is marketed to the player. . . .

Geek Fight cards are supported by sponsors, making it super-cheap for you!

Geek Fight is the first TCG trading card game that is partially funded by advertisements on the face of the cards. This makes it seriously cheap for the players to obtain and enjoy. If you run into any of our distributors or representatives at a convention or any other "nerdy" venue, you will be able to obtain packs of Geek Fight cards for free. If you miss us at the convention, you can still purchase packs through our website for $1 each, a fee that covers shipping and production costs. (International buyers must pay exact shipping.)

The idea for a sponsored strategic card game came about when creator Kalan "Charon" Vazquez decided to hand out business cards to promote his blog, Under the Table Gaming, at Dragon*Con. Kalan thought it would be fun to turn his business cards into a strategic game that would end up in its recipients’ collections rather than in their trash cans. (Most business cards are lost within just a couple of days!) Additionally, each card can be sponsored by small game companies or any business trying to corner the nerd market.

Promo BreakdownOur first promo card is the Sword of 1000 Souls. As of right now, it is only available to potential clients, advertisers, and artists; however, it may be made available to the public when the game is released at Dragon*Con. A brief breakdown of the card follows:

Section 1: This area is the artist credit area, which is a service we provide in exchange for the art. Since at least a thousand of each card will be going out to players and prospective employers, having a URL listed underneath the artist's name is an excellent way to generate attention and potential commissions.

Section 2: This is the ad block where a sponsor may purchase advertising space on the card. Clients can advertise a new game, product line, or even something as radical as a fantasy-themed wedding anniversary. For the first set, the price tag for an ad block is only $100 US.

The primary function of the first set of the Geek Fight TCG trading card game is to generate publicity for our site, our artists and advertisers, the Geek Fight card game, and future DDG games. The better we do on Geek Fight, the more time and money we can spend on our future Geek Fight sets and future games. For this reason we ask you to visit all of our sponsors and check back frequently for updates on our newest projects!

The rest of the game mechanics will be broken down when we are ready to unleash more spoilers for the first set. Revisit this site often to get the latest updates and be the first to see the cards so you can begin building your deck!

If you are interested in purchasing an ad block on one of our cards, check out our services page to learn more about why this is such a revolutionary idea for advertisers. If you have any questions, you may drop Kalan, the creator of the game, a line at charon@divingdragongames.com.

*The creators of Geek Fight accept no responsibility for any harm that may come to a coconut choosing to participate in vicious arena combat, especially when the aforementioned coconut was told upwards of ten times to exchange his glasses for contacts before entering the arena.
